India’s former right-hand stylish batsman Gundappa Vishwanath is officiating as a match-referee for the entire Road Safety World Series matches being played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.

This was revealed by Suru Nayak, the former Test cricketer, who has been in charge of the smooth operations of the tournament.

“We have also hired the services of four umpires- Amish Saheba, Sudhir Asnani, Sanjay Hazare and Umesh Dubey-for this 15-day tournament”, Nayak, who also worked with the Indian cricket board, said.

“These T-20 matches are played with the same MCC laws adopted by the ICC”, one of the umpires officiating in Raipur said.

“There have been no reduced boundaries for the “internationally retired” players participating in this tournament here”, the umpire added.

“Players will be able to play freely as there is no pressure”. The Road Safety World Series organized by the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra to raise awareness about road safety.

Notable retired players from India, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies , South Africa and Bangladesh are participating. Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador.
