The United States military said it intercepted and destroyed two Iranian attack drones that were posing a threat to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement posted on X, US Central Command (Centcom) said American forces operating in the Middle East targeted the drones earlier in the day after they endangered international maritime traffic passing through the strategic waterway.
Centcom added that US troops in the region remain fully prepared to respond to what it described as Iranian aggression and to safeguard maritime security.
