GLASGOW – US President Joe Biden has thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for Pakistan being the first country from Asia to join the Global Methane Pledge.

Biden conveyed his gratitude for the Pakistan premier during an interaction with Federal Minister for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow, UK.

The COP26 summit aims to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Aslam announced the development on Twitter and wrote: “A pleasure to interact with @POTUS at @COP26 who thanked @ImranKhanPTI for #Pakistan being the first Asian country to join the #GlobalMethanePledge along with 100 over countries”.

Addressing the climate summit, he said that the world is on a warpath with nature and a collective retreat is needed and nature has to be taken on board to address climate change.
