ISLAMABAD – United States Mission in Pakistan hosted landmark Freedom 250 celebration in Islamabad on Saturday, marking 250 years of American independence alongside nearly eight decades of diplomatic ties between the United States and Pakistan.
The event, held under the leadership of U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, was part of a year-long global series of commemorations honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The gathering brought together senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academics, civil society members, and cultural figures, highlighting the breadth of U.S.-Pakistan engagement.

Addressing the ceremony, Baker emphasized that Freedom 250 represents both a historic milestone and a reflection of shared values that continue to shape bilateral relations. She underscored that the partnership between Pakistan and the United States is rooted in mutual respect, common interests, and a shared vision for a secure and prosperous future.
The event featured ceremonial honours by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, followed by national anthems of both countries. Cultural performances by the U.S. Air Force Central Command Band and Pakistani singer Bilal Saeed added a vibrant artistic touch to the evening, while a fireworks display over Islamabad marked the conclusion of the celebrations.
Officials and participants from across Pakistan’s public and private sectors attended the event, reflecting growing cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, education, culture, and regional stability.
Freedom 250 initiative is being observed globally by U.S. embassies and consulates throughout 2026 to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, celebrating America’s history while highlighting its international partnerships.
