WASHINGTON – The US State Department has announced the phased closure of the US Consulate General in Peshawar.
It said the operations of the consulate will be shifted to the US Embassy in Islamabad, calling ti a transition to a new chapter.
“As we transition to a new chapter, with the US Consulate General’s operations shifting to US Embassy in Islamabad, we will continue our important diplomatic work in partnership with the people and officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, fostering economic ties and promoting security,” read a post shared by the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
