LAHORE – Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has reportedly suspended the issuance new green meters to solar system users due to shortage of bidirectional meters.
Reports said the limited stock of bidirectional green meters has disrupted the issuance process, while allocations submitted under the ERP code for the meters are also reportedly pending.
Several consumers who installed solar systems have already deposited demand notices for bidirectional green meters. LESCO had issued the demand notices under the net billing policy.
After receiving the demand notices, relevant offices completed the online processing for meter issuance.
The demand for meters was subsequently consolidated through divisions and circles and submitted to the Material Management Department.
However, reports citing sources said the shortage has affected the installation of meters for new solar connections as well as the replacement of faulty bidirectional meters.
The disruption is causing difficulties for solar consumers who have completed the required process and are awaiting installation of the meters.
The shortage has also resulted in a backlog of meter allocations, with consumers facing delays in obtaining bidirectional meters required for their solar connections.
