UO’s new service statutes approved by syndicate

The University of Okara’s Syndicate, Chaired by Punjab Minster for Higher Education Department (HED), Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, unanimously approved the university’s first service statutes and allowed the administration to announce new vacancies of administrative and teaching staff under these statutes.

The UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, briefed the house about the key developments of the university during the past year and the members appreciated the administration’s efforts for the rapid academic and infrastructural growth of the newly established institution.

The Registrar, Dr Tahir Khan, presented the agenda items of the 21st meeting of the Syndicate. The body approved the 25 percent disparity/special allowance for the university’s employees from BPS 1 to 19 and recommended the file for the Chancellor’s approval.

The Syndicate also approved the hiring of more than 20 new faculty and staff members on the basis of the recommendations of the Selection Board.

Moreover, the list of new subject experts for the Selection Board has also been approved.

Among the faculty members, appointed on Tenure Track System (TTS), the top scorer, Dr Shela Honey, Assistant Professor of Physics, was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation on the basis of her excellence in teaching and research.
