The University of Okara’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, formally launched the anti-dengue campaign in anticipation of the heavy monsoon rains.
He visited the campus and conducted a meeting with the key stakeholders including administrative staff, gardeners and sanitary workers, passing them instructions regarding the mechanical eradication of man-made containers from the campus.
Commenting on the objectives of this drive, Dr Wajid said that the dengue larva could flourish on stagnant water in the containers like dustbins and water buckets and the most effective way to nip it in the bud was to regularly check those containers and keep them dry.
“We are determined to ensure dengue-free campus and also spread this awareness to the adjacent communities,” told the VC.
