A senior British diplomat, Director General (DG) Political at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Mr Ed Llewellyn who was recently on a visit to Pakistan, has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s strong commitment to Pakistan and regional stability.
During the high-level visit, he underscored deepening cooperation between the two countries on security, economic growth, and climate resilience.
Mr Ed Llewellyn who was accompanied by the British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and senior officials of the mission, held a series of key engagements with Pakistani officials, focusing on pressing regional and global challenges. He welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, stressing the importance of restraint and dialogue. He reiterated the UK’s call for an immediate halt to attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, highlighting the urgent need to protect innocent lives amid ongoing instability.
The British official also acknowledged the heavy toll of terrorism on Pakistan, paying tribute to the resilience of its people and the sacrifices made by law enforcement agencies and security forces. He reaffirmed that the United Kingdom stands firmly alongside Pakistan in combating terrorism and emphasized a shared resolve to further strengthen cooperation in addressing evolving security threats. Beyond security, Llewellyn underscored the UK’s continued support for Pakistan’s long-term economic development. He highlighted the significance of sustained collaboration in areas such as climate resilience, development initiatives, and strengthening people-to-people connections—key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
