The Food & Nutrition Department of University of Home Economics (UHE) organised a webinar titled: “Food & Nutrition and Home Economics: A Global Perspective.”
The organisers attributed the success of the webinar to support and encouragement of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen and participation of Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yassir Humayun.
The UHE VC, the special guest at the event, shared her insightful contemplations regarding the Webinar while Dr Safdar Sohail, Dean, National Institute of Public Policy (NIPP) was a keynote speaker.
Dr Haroon Jehangir, Director General Health Department, also graced the Webinar with his kind presence.
International Speakers (Dr Mary Jane Oakland (USA), Dr Sandra Voorham (Australia) and Dr Chyerl Sonter (Australia) spoke about the significance of BS Home Economics with specializations (Food & Nutrition, Dietetics, Community Nutrition, Human Development, Art & Design etc) and also stressed on the initiation and recognition of Home Economics Undergraduate degree programs in all Govt and Private colleges of Pakistan.
It was also stressed that the Agriculture Council must give the accreditation to BS Home Economics degree with majors in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics along with BS Nutrition and BS HND programs.
In addition to our International speakers Educationist, Experts and Professionals (Dr. Rubina Hakeem, Ms Matina Zia, Mrs Ghazala Pervaiz, Dr Naghmana, Dr Hajra to name a few) from all over Pakistan participated and shared their thought-provoking experiences on the topic.
The Webinar was well received by hundreds Home Economists and Non-Home Economists around the globe and acknowledged the topic as need of the hour.
