The Secretary-General of the Organization of Is-lamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, met the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, at the Ministry of Foreign Af-fairs and International Cooperation. During the visit, the Secretary-General commended the leading role of the UAE in the work of the OIC, praising its continuous support to member states in their quest for development. He also expressed hope for further support from the UAE to help many of these coun-tries tackle the challenges they face.
Reiterating his condemnation of the vicious at-tacks launched by the Houthi militias on the United Arab Emirates, the Secretary-General stressed that the OIC stands in support with the Emirates in all its actions to protect its territory, its citizens, and its residents.
For his part, the UAE’s Minister of State Al-Marar reaffirmed his country’s support for the OIC, while commending the role it plays on a variety of issues of concern to the Muslim world.
The two sides shared views on such issues of Is-lamic nature as the Palestinian cause, the situation in Afghanistan, Yemen, the Sahel region, and Libya.—PR
