Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, Dr.Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi visited the Sukkur Barrage on Thursday, accompanied by Chairman District Council Sukkur, Syed Kamil Haider Shah. During the visit, Dr. Al-Rumaithi inspected the Sukkur Barrage Museum and Library and received a detailed briefing about the historic site from Executive Engineer Zahid Mughal.
The visit also marked a momentous occasion as Dr. Al-Rumaithi, alongside Syed Kamil Haider Shah, laid the foundation stone for the “Burj Al Arab” construction project near the historic Lansdowne Bridge in Rohri. At the event, Syed Kamil Haider Shah and Sukkur Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.B. Raja Dharejo provided a comprehensive briefing on the historical importance of the Lansdowne Bridge and various aspects of the area’s cultural heritage. The UAE Consul General also toured the Lansdowne Museum and discussed initiatives to highlight the region’s cultural legacy. “This project is not just a step towards regional development but also a milestone in preserving historical and cultural heritage while promoting tourism,” remarked Dr. Al-Rumaithi during his address.
