After the attack, personnel from FC, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Levies Force surrounded area. A heavy exchange of fire followed, during which two terrorists were killed and three others were wounded while prompt action by the security forces helped prevent greater casualties.
A full-scale clearance operation was launched at the scene, while intelligence-led efforts are underway to identify and apprehend any accomplices or facilitators involved in the attack. Clips posted online show large plumes of smoke rising from the city, with loud gunshots and explosions echoing in the background. Several vehicles were also seen engulfed in flames.
The attackers torched multiple vehicles and buildings, including NBP branch, as civilians fled the area. Local businesses closed and movement in the city came to a standstill amid the chaos. Authorities imposed an emergency lockdown, shutting down markets and sealing entry and exit points while the security operation continued.
This attack comes just days after the recovery of a 9-year-old boy’s body in the same district. The child, Muswar Khan Kakar, had been abducted in November 2024 for ransom. Security officials have attributed his kidnapping and murder to the militant group Daesh.
So far, no terror group has claimed responsibility for deadly attack. Security forces continue to comb the area for any remaining threats, with operations expected to continue over the coming days.
