Two children drowned in a river while their mother and a sister were rescued alive here on Monday. According to details, a family had come to River Chenab in Khushab city of district Khushab for picnic. A child slipped and fell into river and in attempt to save the drowning child, mother and two sisters of the child also fell into the river.
The people present at scene managed to rescue mother and a sister but two children drowned in deep water of the river. The rescue divers were engaged in operation for recovery of the bodies of the missing children.
Meanwhile two persons were killed while another sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Atta Shaheed and Bhalwal police limits. Police said on Monday that Nadir Abbas resident of chak 103/SB along with his wife Nabeela was travelling on a motorcycle on Faisalabad road when a recklessly driven car hit the two-wheeler.—INP
