LONDON – The Warwick Crown Court has handed down long detention sentences to two teenage Afghan asylum seekers for raping a 15-year-old girl in central England.
The convicts, identified as 17-year-old Israr Niazal and Jan Jahanzeb, had arrived in England last year and seeking asylum since then.
Both sexually assaulted the girl, who was very drunk, in a park in Leamington Spa in May after they took her away from her friends.
A video captured by the girl was also played in the court in which she can be screaming: “Please help me … let me go … I want to go home.”
“The day I was raped changed me as a person,” Reuters quoted the girl as having said.
Last month, an Afghan man pleaded guilty to the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, central England.
In a separate case, an Ethiopian man was jailed in September after being convicted of raping a teenage girl and another woman in Epping, north of London.
