Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi, Cemal Sangu, emphasized the vital role of education in societal development and progress while addressing a dinner reception at the Turkish Consulate to celebrate the growing educational collaboration between Türkiye and Pakistan.
The event was attended by education ministers, educators, and prominent figures from both countries. Sangu highlighted that education is a cornerstone for building a prosperous society, quoting Nelson Mandela’s powerful words, “Education is the most powerful weapon in the world.” He stressed that no country could thrive without prioritizing education and fostering scientific and technological advancements.
The Consul General underscored Türkiye’s extensive involvement in Pakistan’s educational landscape, including the establishment of 28 Pak-Turk Maarif Schools across the country, benefiting around 13,000 students.
He also spoke about the Turkish Diyanet Foundation’s contribution through girls’ schools and the Turkish Red Crescent’s collaboration with NGOs to run Star Schools in Karachi’s Korangi and Orangi areas. Additionally, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is supporting educational projects throughout Sindh, including the installation of energy systems in schools, refurbishments, and the provision of school resources.
Sangu pointed out that Türkiye’s state-run scholarship program plays a pivotal role in providing opportunities for Pakistani students to study in Türkiye, further solidifying the educational bonds between the two nations. He encouraged Pakistani students to apply for the scholarships, which cover tuition, travel expenses, and living costs, with applications set to open at the end of December.
The evening, hosted by Tri-Star Education, also featured representatives from prestigious Turkish universities and educational counselors, highlighting the deepening educational partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan.
