The Counter Terrorism Department, Peshawar, has claimed to have mowed down a terrorist associated with the defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan besides arresting five others during an operation conducted in the outskirts of the provincial metropolis.
“An alleged extortionist was killed and five others were arrested during an operation carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department in Tela bund area of Peshawar”. The CTD said adding the killed and arrested extortionists were associated with terrorist outlet Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and were involved in extortion from people.
The CTD officials, however, admitted that three accomplices of the terrorists managed to escape from the spot. The CTD further said two Kalashnikovs, six hand grenades, two pistols and cartridges were also recovered from the possession of the terrorists.
The officials said Legal action has been initiated against the militants arrested during the operation. The law enforcers have also kicked off search and net operation to apprehend the fleeing accomplices of the terrorists.
