Tribunal clears way for Maryam to contest election from NA-119

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz on Sunday got a green signal to contest elections from NA-119 in Lahore.

Election Appellate Tribunal disposed of an appeal against the acceptance of Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers from NA-119. It may be mentioned here that Maryam Nawaz has submitted nomination papers from six constituencies of National and Punjab Assemblies.

Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers had been submitted from NA-119 and NA-120 in Lahore, and from PP-80, PP-159, PP-160, and PP-165. Also on Saturday, the Election Tribunals had given go-ahead to top members of the Sharif family including Maryam Nawaz to contest general elections from different constituencies.

The Election Tribunal in Lahore had dismissed appeal filed against approval of Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers. The Election Appellate Tribunal upheld the returning officer’s decision to accept Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers from NA-130 Lahore. The Election Tribunal in Lahore also dismissed an appeal challenging the acceptance of the nomination papers of former prime minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif from NA-132.
