Transporters charging extra fares fined


The Sindh Transport Department launches crackdown on inter-district transporters charging extra fares from passengers, 1 lakh 46 thousand extra fares returned to passengers, said Transport Minister Awais Shah on Friday. A fine of Rs 38,300 was imposed on more than 30 passenger vehicles, he said, adding operations were carried out in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur, Badin, Nawabshah, Jacobabad and other cities, Owais Shah The minister said that passenger bus depots from Karachi to other districts are also being sprayed with disinfectant along with percussion machine and action is being taken against passenger vehicles for charging extra fare and non-compliance with SOPs.
