A training programme on fish farming was organised by the department of fisheries MNS University of Agriculture Multan and SMEDA.
MNA University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Ali presided over the training. The objective of the training was to encourage new farmers to adopt new techniques of aquaculture.
The VC emphasized the importance of such trainings as these gatherings help in sharing experiences and coordination is developed between industry, researchers, farmers and students.
He said that in the present era, fish farming is not restricted to rural areas and people living in urban areas are also starting farming, especially biofloc system is getting popular among people.
The protein of fish is important for each age group of human being. Dr Naheed Bano, Assistant Professor Department of Fisheries spoke about the farm management practice, management and processing.
She also talked about the shelf life of fish and informed that how fish can be preserved for one year without affecting its quality. Altaf Shahid, Dr Asif Raza, director fisheries Riazuddin, assistant director fisheries Iram Khan, Dr Abid Hussain and Nabeel Ikram also attended the training session.
