In a heart-wrenching incident on Monday in Lower South Waziristan, a pick-up vehicle en route from Sanga area to Wana in the Shakai Valley met with a perilous accident after slipping on a snow-covered road. The unfortunate event resulted in the loss of one woman’s life, while 13 individuals, including the driver, Gul Noor, sustained injuries.

The rescue team swiftly responded to the distress call, with 1122 personnel efficiently transporting the injured to the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) in Wana. Dr. Hamad, the Medical Superintendent at DHQ Wana, reported that two of the injured individuals, whose conditions were deemed critical, were subsequently referred to Dera Ismail Khan for advanced medical care.

Currently, two injured victims are receiving treatment in the surgical ward at DHQ Wana, while nine others were discharged after receiving essential first aid. The community remains in shock and mourning as the victims, all believed to be from the WazirKhojalKhel tribe, grapple with the aftermath of the tragic accident.

HamzaWazir, a local resident of Shakai Valley, provided insight into the incident, revealing that the ill-fated vehicle was traveling from Shakai to Wana. The accident occurred in the hilly area at Sara Pal, where the vehicle lost control and overturned due to slippery conditions caused by the snow. As the community comes together to support the affected families, questions about the safety measures on the snow-covered roads in the region are being raised.
