Tolerance, harmony between different faiths urged

The different faiths on Thursday were urged to promote harmony and tolerance to avoid further divide and disturbance in the society. A meeting of leaders from different religions was connived at deputy commissioner office Attock on Thursday to avert Karak like situation in which miscreants have damaged a religious place belonging to a minority community. The worship place belonging to Hindu community was set on fire and severely damaged by a mob led by supporters of a cleric in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district on Wednesday.
The meeting which was led by deputy commissioner Attock Ali Annan Qammar was attended by representatives from different faiths, religion besides officials from district administration, police and different law enforcement agencies. The members belonging to various non-Muslim communities and different sects have stressed the need for creating interfaith harmony to overcome the increasing polarisation among people on the basis of belief.
Various means to check the entry of extremist forces and elements fanning violent steps was also discussed during the meeting. deputy commissioner Attock Ali Annan Qammar while addressing the participants has said that every religion gives the lesson of peace, unity, tolerance, inter-faith Harmon, brotherhood and the respect of the humanity and strongly prohibits extremism. He urged all religious clerics and other persons belong to different walk of the life to fully support the state and its institutions including law enforcement agencies and armed forces to end violence in society. In the end all the participants unanimously condemned the incident.
