ISLAMABAD – A Bengal tiger and its two cubs were reportedly spotted on a residential street, causing panic and prompting security teams to place the area on high alert.
The animals were seen in Street 15 of Block B Gulberg Greens, leaving residents worried about their safety, particularly that of children. Pictures and videos of the tiger and its cubs soon began circulating in residents’ groups, adding to the anxiety in the neighbourhood.
With the animals reportedly still in the area, security teams increased surveillance and advised residents to remain inside their homes. Families were specifically warned against allowing children to go outdoors until the situation was under control.
Residents were also asked not to approach the tiger or gather at the spot to take pictures and videos. Instead, they were told to immediately alert security personnel if they spotted the animals or noticed any movement nearby.
A security official said teams were keeping a close watch on the situation and taking precautionary measures to ensure residents remained safe. For many families, however, the biggest question is how a Bengal tiger and its cubs ended up in a populated residential area in the first place.
Resident questioned the practice of keeping dangerous exotic animals in residential communities and called for stricter rules to regulate their private ownership. The incident also raised fresh concerns about the risks of keeping wild animals in densely populated housing schemes, where even a brief escape could put residents at serious risk.
