BANNU – North Waziristan assistant commissioner and two policemen were martyred in a terrorist attack in Bannu amid resurgence of terrorism in the country.
Reports said the attack was carried out on Miranshah road when AC Shah Wali was travelling to North Waziristan. Following the attack, the terrorists set the vehicle on fire and fled from the scene.
Security forces have cordoned off the area while search operation has been launched to arrest the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, Pakistan recorded an increase in terror attacks during November 2025, it was revealed in a report released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICS).
The think tank has reported an alarming increase in attacks on “soft targets” by militants linked to groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan, leading to a significant rise in civilian casualties.
In November, 54 civilians were killed in terrorist attacks, marking an 80% increase compared to 30 deaths in October. Additionally, 25 security personnel and 7 peace committee members were killed, while 83 security officers, 67 civilians, and 4 peace committee members sustained injuries nationwide.
It also noted that the total number of terrorist incidents across the country increased by about 9%, with 97 attacks reported in November, up from 89 the previous month. The frequency of suicide bombings also surged, with four incidents recorded—one each in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and the former FATA region—compared to just one suicide attack in October.
