Thousands of people have been left stranded after authorities halted the traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, the only surface link connecting the occupied Kashmir Valley with the rest of the world.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of cars carrying families and trucks laden with goods have been stranded near Chenani-Nashri tunnel as authorities closed the tunnel on highway.
A traffic police official said that the movement has been halted to carry out repairs on the road at Dalwas where surface condition is very poor. Once the surface is made better, traffic will be allowed to ply on the highway, he added—KMS
