The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 121 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Tuesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 34 buildings on Raiwind Road, 21 in Johar Town, 19 in Gulberg and New Garden Town, 15 in Township, 14 in Gujjar Pura, 11 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and Government Superior Services Scheme, and seven in New Muslim Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include The Knowledge School, Learners Spot Academy, Rahat Pharmacy, Academy of Aviation Excellence, Haya & Haani Beauty Salon, Mian Palace, Khan-e-Azam Banquet Hall, Sher-e-Rabbani Marriage Hall, Bilal Marriage Garden, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
