Thandiani int’l standard resort to boost tourism

Gilyat Development Authority (GDA) has finalized a preliminary conceptual master plan for outsourcing and development of an international standard resort on 300 Kanal land with all amenities at Thandiani, Abbottabad that will likely to generate millions of rupees revenue annually.

The spokesperson Gilyat Development Authority (GDA), Ahsan Hameed giving details of the project said Tandiani the most attractive tourist destination above 2,7500 meters of sea level had a great investment opportunity and maximum potential for future development.

He said that 300 Kanal land would be handed over to international level developer on the model of sustainable tourism development to build a resort that include five star hotel, apartments, amusement park through open bidding on a lease.

He said that it was the first step towards investment in responsible tourism, with primary focus of environment friendless and sustainability with primary focus as a commercial hub.

He said no tree cutting and construction allowed in the designated forest areas and outdoor activities include walking tracks, camping facilities etc, constriction would be allowed as per the GDA building by-laws.

Under the World Bank assisted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE), priority was being given to revamping tourism facilities in Thandiani that include construction of a town and 24 Kilometers long access road.
