Thalassemia center inaugurated in Sujawal

The first ever Thalassemia Center and Blood bank in the Sujawal district was jointly inaugurated by District Commissioner Sujawa lWajid Sheikh, District Health Officer Dr. Hanif Ahmed Memon and Muhammad Iqbal, founder of KashifIqbal Thalasaemia Center Karachi and Aslam Memon on Tuesday. The inauguration ceremony was followed by an event that highlighted the aim of opening the center.

District Health Officer Sujawal Dr. Hanif Memon said that; As soon as he assumed charge of District Health Officer Sujawal establishing Thalasaemia Center was one of his prime objectives and finally he had achieved it with the collaboration of Muhammad Iqbal a notable philanthropist who had been managing 28 Thalasaemia Centers across the country.

He thanked civil society and donors of Sujawal district who made it possible. Recipient of Pride of Performance award Muhammad Iqbal founder of Kashif Iqbal Thalasaemia Center Karachi said that; Death of his 16 year old son at the hands of Thalasaemia persuaded him to work for cure and prevention of the life-taking disease.

“I have been working to prevent this diseases and ease up things for those who are putting up with this troublesome diseases”; he mentioned and added that blood transfusion was an expensive process and is beyond the reach of poor patients. Hence this center would facilitate poor patients. He urged well-to-do citizens to assist him and the district health department manage the affairs of Thalasaemia Center and blood bank.
