PESHAWAR – The law enforcement agencies have identified the terrorist network responsible for last month’s suicide attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters, investigation officials confirmed on Saturday.
The investigators said that the suicide bombers were affiliated with a proscribed terrorist organization and had remained in Peshawar for several days before carrying out the attack.
During their stay, the attackers conducted reconnaissance of various routes in the city to plan and execute the operation.
Officials said the terrorists were provided logistical support, including accommodation and suicide jackets, indicating the involvement of facilitators who assisted the attackers throughout their stay in the provincial capital.
Investigation authorities further revealed that more than 150 individuals have been interrogated so far in connection with the case as part of an ongoing effort to identify and dismantle the entire network behind the attack.
It may be recalled that the suicide bombing at the FC headquarters last month resulted in the martyrdom of three FC personnel while five others sustained injuries. Security forces neutralized three attackers, including the suicide bomber, during the incident.
The officials said further arrests and developments are expected as the probe progresses.
