In the early hours of Saturday, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) once again showcased its unwavering valour, thwarting a heinous terrorist attack at Mianwali Training Air Base. The resolute operation, culminating in the elimination of nine terrorists, not only underscores PAF’s remarkable skills and bravery but also adds another chapter to its illustrious history. This further showcased its prowess not only in vast expanse of the skies but also ground below.

However, attempted attack on the training base arrives amidst a spate of troubling incidents that have recently plagued provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming lives of at least 17 soldiers. These included a range of assaults, from a militant strike in Gwadar to remote-controlled bombings in Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat. The incident in Dl Khan tragically resulted in the loss of five lives and left numerous others injured, including police officials.

These events serve as stark reminders of persistent threat posed by anti-peace elements within and outside the country’s borders. The recent surge in terrorist activities is undoubtedly cause for concern, but it has not shaken our faith in capabilities of security forces, who have consistently displayed unwavering commitment and resilience in the face of adversity, often at the cost of precious lives. It is important to investigate these terror incidents and those behind are nabbed and given exemplary punishment.

We have no doubt in saying that elements within Afghanistan supported by India are behind these despicable acts. Threatening statement of Acting Afghan Defence Minister, Mullah Muhammad Yaqub Mujahid, who warned Pakistan of dire consequences for repatriation of illegal Afghans, is something that cannot go unnoticed or ignored. While protesting with Afghan government over the regrettable remarks made by its minister, we must continue with the repatriation plan for long-term security of the country. Afghan authorities must understand that Pakistan is not sending back Afghan refugees but only their illegal nationals who have no valid visa or documents. It is also the responsibility of Afghan government to ensure that its territory is not used against Pakistan.
