Tension gripped in Ajnala town of Indian Punjab

Tension gripped after supporters of Khalistani leader and Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh clashed with Indian police personnel in Ajnala town of Indian Punjab.

Several people, including three policemen, were injured after the protesters broke police barricades and stormed Ajnala Police station.

Amritpal Singh, who is a preacher, was booked after an FIR was registered on February 17 on a complaint by Varinder Singh of Salempur village in Ropar district. The complaint was filed at Ajnala Police station against six persons by name and 20 unidentified persons. The six persons booked in the FIR were Amritpal Singh, Pampalpreet Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Fauji Rounde Pind Wala.—INP
