The former vice chancellors of the University of Karachi and teaching fraternity paid rich tributes to the teachers during a special program organized to highlight and acknowledge the role of teachers in the development of the country and society.
The Unikarians in collaboration with the Karachi University has arranged the Teachers Day at the Arts Auditorium on Monday. The speakers observed that without positive role of teachers success is not possible in any society.
The former vice chancellor of the Karachi University Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui informed the audience that the role teachers’ play in the development of students and society are noteworthy and unmatchable.
He observed that teachers always give preference to their commitment and a practical teacher knows that commitment is as necessary as hardworking skills and knowledge. Professor Dr Pirzada Siddiqui said that teachers should conduct papers in their presence not only prepare them and handover it the non-teaching staff.
“A teacher is always ready to accept challenges and capable of producing best results and can perform well regardless of the fact that available resources are not up to the mark.
Another former KU VC Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser said that like parents particularly mothers, teachers always have a unique relationship with their students. The parents and teachers both enjoy the success of a person and proudly discuss it with others.
“Besides, commitments, teachers are always devoted to the profession and always try to share and shift all his knowledge into students’ minds and hearts.” He noted that rather thinking about his pay scale or promotion a dedicated teacher always think about students and spends his or her whole energy to give them best future.
Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser gives credit to his teachers and said whatever position in the society he has achieved it was only because of his teachers. On this occasion, the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi said that people often follow internet and other modern resources to fetch knowledge but only parents and teachers help in the character building of a person.
“Where parents are responsible for the upbringing of a child, teachers play very vital role in shaping them while transferring knowledge so that they can become a valuable citizen of society.” He said that teachers are the most important factor in the educational domain and truly deserves appreciation from every stakeholder of society.
He also said that all the field experts are students of some brilliant teachers. He urged that students should respect the teachers and try to learn from them as much as possible.
The President Unikarians Professor Dr Ejaz Farooqui said that like parents, teachers too share the success of a person within their social circle and credit also goes to their hardworking attitude and supporting nature.
Professor Dr Shakeel-ur-Rehman Farooqui shared that the event was organized to pay tribute to the teachers who have helped in shaping the society.
