The trade development authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) had an exclusive meeting at the Federation House Thursday.
FPCCI Senior Vice President Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig represented the FPCCI while TDAP CEO Arif Khan was on the other side.
Dr Baig has been very active and he has been making untiring efforts for boosting up the scale of exports of Pakistani origin goods to European Markets under the REX System.
While talking to Pakistan Observer, Dr Baig said that Pakistan’s exports would be greater than the $25bln per anum but certain conditions had caused a sharp reduction in exports.
“We are intending to incorporate the exporters, impart necessary guidelines and teach and prepare them to follow the EU’s guidelines so that they could benefit from the REX System and thus the country would find new dimensions of prosperity.
He said that his intentions and efforts are to take the level of exports back to $26bln as the sharp decline in exports had left the level at just $21bln.
In addition, while talking to Pakistan Observer, TDAP CEO Arif Khan said that he would be on a three-four days trip to China. His trip would be aimed at actualizing TDAP’s efforts for taking the exports to a desired level of $25bln.
