NPC’s team, colleagues mourn passing away of a devoted colleague!
Secretary General of Taleem Network Pakistan (TNP) under Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC), Founder President of the Private Schools Network, Islamabad and renowned educationist Dr Muhammad Afzal Babar was buried on Thursday in the CDA graveyard of Bhara Kahu.
He had passed away late Wednesday night due to heart attack.
According to his family members, Dr Afzal was rushed to the hospital but he couldn’t survive. He was a chronic heart patient and had suffered an attack last year too.
His Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) was attended by Chairman of the NPC, Mian Muhammad Javed, Vice Chairman NPC and Chairman of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik, Executive Secretary of the NPC, Executive Editor of Pakistan Observer, Gauhar Zahid Malik, Chairman, Ideal Cambridge Education System Prof Inam Muhammad, members of the NPC Executive Committee including Amb. Salahuddin Chaudhry and others.
Dr Afzal Babar is survived by a widow and six children, 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Died at the age of 55, Dr Afzal was a well-loved and deeply-respected educationist and had devoted his life to the promotion and cause of education particularly for the under-privileged and deserving students.
In fact, he was working on a project to establish a non-formal school under the TNP at Bhara Kahu.
While talking to Pakistan Observer, Chairperson of the Taleem Network Pakistan, a project of the NPC, former Senator Razina Alam Khan termed the passing away of Dr Afzal Babar a great loss not only to the NPC and Taleem Network but also called it her personal loss. He was like my younger brother and I used to chide him for not taking care of his health, but he never raised a word and always smiled in response said Sen Razina Alam Khan remembering Dr Afzal Babar.
She said Dr Afzal had devoted his life to the promotion of education among the students of deprived classes and for this he had full support of the NPC Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed and all his team.
We were supposed to visit a non-formal school under the Taleem Network at Bhara Kahu on Thursday and he had asked me, Nargis Nasir another active member of the NPC Executive Committee and Amb Salahuddin Chaudhry to visit him on Thursday but unfortunately when we reached, we only saw his dead body surrounded by his family and loved ones, she said.
Nargis Nasir also paid rich tributes to Dr Afzal Babar calling him a man of parts, a kind-hearted man and a very responsible human being. We will miss him for a long time in our day-to-day affairs said Ms Nargis Nasir.
In their separate messages, Chaimran NPC Mian Muhammad Javed, Vice Chairman Faisal Zahid Malik and Executive Secretary Gauhar Zahid Malik expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the sudden death of Dr Afzal Babar and called him a true friend and asset of the NPC.
They prayed to God Almighty to bless his soul and grant him elevated place in Jannah-tul-Firdous.
