The training of teachers for the first digital census is going on across the country. Meanwhile, tablets have been distributed among the teachers.

According to the details, the distribution of tablets among the teachers under training for the first digital census across the country was implemented. For the first time, paper and pen will not be used in the seventh census of Pakistan. With the passage of time, the country is moving towards digitizing all its records with the use of modern devices. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has started the training process in various districts of Sindh including Karachi.

The federal government wants to conduct the upcoming general elections on the basis of digital census. Tablets were distributed among the teachers under training at Government Boys Secondary School Anjuman-e-Islamia Liaquatabad.Officials say that for the first time in the country, the census will be done without paper and pen. Teachers and statistics staff will store data in tablets instead of paper. Teacher training will continue till January 21.

The census, which will start from first February, next month, is very important in the sense that other political parties, including the MQM, had expressed concerns over the results of the previous census, especially the alleged under-reporting of Karachi’s population.
