South Africa beat United States of America (USA) by 18 runs in a Super 8s stage Group B match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in North Sound on Wednesday.
Chasing a challenging 195-run target for the victory, USA reached 176/6 in the allocated 20 overs. Andries Gous was the highest scorer with 80 runs. Harmeet Singh made 38, Steven Taylor 24 and Corey Anderson 12 runs. Kagiso Rabada bagged three wickets while Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi took one wicket apiece.
After being asked to bat first by USA skipper Aaron Jones, South Africa made 194/4 in the allocated 20 overs. Player of the match Quinton de Kock was the top scorer with 74 runs followed by skipper Aiden Markram who made 46. Heinrich Klaasen made 36, Tristan Stubs 20 and Reeza Hendricks 11 runs. Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh bagged two wickets each.
