South Africa beat England by seven runs in a Super 8s stage Group 2 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Gros Islet on Friday.

Chasing a decent 164-run target for victory, England scored 156/6 in the allocated 20 overs. Harry Brook was the top scorer who made 53 runs. Liam Livingstone scored 33, skipper Jos Butler 17, Jonny Bairstow 16, Phil Salt 11 and Sam Curran 10 runs. Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj bagged two wickets each and Anrich Nortje and Ottneil Baartman had one each.

After being asked to bat first by England skipper Jos Butler, South Africa reached 163/6 in the allocated 20 overs. Player of the match Quinton de Kock was the highest scorer with 65 runs followed by David Miller who made 43. Reeza Hendricks scored 19 and Tristan Stubbs 12 runs. Jofra Archer bagged three wickets and Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid had one each.
