NEW York – India beat Ireland by eight wickets in a Group A match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in New York.
Chasing a below-par 97-run target, India crossed the finishing line for the loss of two wickets in just 12.2 overs. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 52 runs followed by Rishabh Pant who made 36. Mark Adair and Ben White bagged one wicket apiece. Jasprit Bumrah was named player of the match.
After being asked to bat first by India skipper Rohit Sharma, Ireland kept losing wickets from the start and ended up at 96 in 16 overs. Gareth Delany was the top scorer with 26 runs followed by Josh Little who made 14. Curtis Campher made 12 and Lorcan Tucker 10 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures.
Hardik Pandya bagged three wickets, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah two each and Mohammad Siraj took one wicket while Gareth Denaly was run out.
