Defending champions England thrashed co-host West Indies by eight wickets in a Super 8s stage Group 2 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Gros Islet.
Chasing a formidable 181-run target for the victory, England crossed the finishing line with eight wickets and 15 balls to spare. Player of the match Phil Salt was the top scorer with 87 runs followed by Jonny Bairstow who made 48. Skipper Jos Butler made 25 and Moeen Ali 13 runs. Andre Russell and Roston Chase bagged one wicket each.
Earlier, West Indies scored 180/4 in the allocated 20 overs. Johnson Charles scored 38 runs, skipper Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran 36 each, Sherfane Rutherford 28 and Brandon King 23 runs. Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone got one wicket apiece.
