England thrashed the United States of America (USA) by 10 wickets in a Super Eights stage Group 2 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Bridgetown on Sunday.
Chasing a below-par 116-run target for victory, England crossed the finishing line without losing any wicket in 9.4 overs. Jos Buttler was the highest scorer with 83 runs. Phil Salt made 25 runs. Adil Rashid was named player of the match.
After being asked to bat first by England skipper Jos Buttler, USA kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were all out at 115 in 18.5 overs as Chris Jordan bagged four wickets including a hat-trick in the penultimate over without conceding a run. Nitish Kumar was the top scorer with 30 runs followed by Corey Anderson who made 29. Harmeet Singh made 21, Steven Taylor 12 and skipper Aaron jones 10 runs. No other batters could enter the double figures. Adil Rashid and Sam Curran took two wickets each while Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley had one each.
