Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Punjab on Information and Spokesperson to the Punjab Government Hasaan Khawar has said that in order to eradicate gender based violence in Pakistan, there is dire need for all concerned agencies to formulate a systematic and integrated strategy.

He said that the government has enacted important laws in this regard in the last three years but there is need to create awareness among the people about these laws, proper training of personnel from investigative and law enforcement department, and to speed up judicial process.

In this regard, the data collected by the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) is a welcome step which will help the government in policy making.

These views were expressed by SACM Punjab Hasaan Khawar while addressing an event organized by SSDO on Friday with regards to unveiling a report on violence against women and children in the districts of Punjab.

He said that the government acknowledged in the National Security Policy 2020 that the issue of gender security must be addressed on priority basis.

Hasaan Khawar maintained that women from all walks of life face problems of gender based violence, but it is heartening to see that whenever such a heinous crime occurs, all sections of the society unite and mobilize to bring justice to the affected elements.

Answering various questions regarding the current political situation in the country, Hasaan Khawar said that the PML-N and the PPP had been taking turns for power but thanks to Prime Minister Imran Khan, the veil of “zameer for sale” and “chhanga manga politics” was lifted.

It will be recorded in history will tell who compromised on democratic principles when the votes were being traded, SACM maintained.
