Majority of those martyred and injured are cops

The death toll of the twin blasts that rocked the Counter-Terrorism Department, Swat, on Monday late night rose to 20 with around a dozen people among 50 injured continued to be in precarious condition. A majority of those martyred and wounded are the men in uniform.
A couple of deadly blast that had ripped through the most secured buildings of the police forces in Kabal area of the Swat on Monday, it may be mentioned, had played havoc in the area raiding two buildings to ground and seriously wounding around 80 people mostly cops as the medics at various hospitals had later declared 12 people dead.
While the KP Police Chief ruled out the element of terrorism in the twin blasts, the independent sources as well as the local elders have ridiculed the Provincial Police Chief claims raising serious concerns over the security laps.
Police authorities on Tuesday said that 13 cops were martyred and 53 others got injured in the bombing incident, whereas, four persons locked up inside the police station were also killed. The blasts occurred in Swat’s Kabal Town near the CTD police station as after the explosion, the electricity supply to the area was also disrupted.
As heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene, emergency was imposed in all hospitals including the major hospitals in Peshawar and rescue teams have also reached the site and wounded persons are being shifted to a local hospital. While two blocks of the CTD compound were destroyed completely by the explosions, nearby buildings were also damaged.
