LAHORE – It is mandatory to get all new cars and other vehicles registered with the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department timely to avoid any fines and legal actions.

The Punjab Excise Department is responsible for the registration of vehicles across the province. This process ensures that all motor vehicles are legally documented and identifiable.

Vehicle owners must provide necessary documents such as proof of ownership, ID card, and sales invoice.

After verification, the excise department issues a registration number and certificate. The registration helps in tracking vehicles, ensuring road safety, and preventing theft.

It also facilitates tax collection and compliance with traffic laws. The Punjab government has also introduced online services, making the vehicle registration process more efficient, transparent, and accessible for citizens across urban and rural areas.

Fee for New Registration of Vehicles of up to 1000cc

The Punjab government revised the fee for new registration of vehicles in previous budget for fiscal year 2024-25. The rates are still applicable as fee for new registration of 100cc vehicle, which includes Suzuki Cultus, Alto, Kia Picanto and others, stands at 1 percent of the value of the vehicles.

It is not confirmed if the government will revise the fee for new registration of vehicles in budget for next fiscal year.
