The district administration of Kohat here on Wednesday conducted a survey for collecting data about damages occurred due to recent monsoon floods in Pewar Khawar at Prang, upper part of Kurram district. Following the instructions of Assis-tant Commissioner Kurram Amir Nawaz Khan, SDO concerned was deputed for survey, who visited the affected area located on right bank of Pewar Khawar at Pranga, Manz, Lundai, Dapa Kali and Sehra Kali Pewar in Upper Kurram.

These villages are in the direct hit of monsoon floods, which can damage precious agricultural land, village population, grave yards and govern-ment assets including drinking water supply schemes, schools and irrigation channels. During the visit, it was observed that about 10 acres agricul-ture land of Sehra Kali had been eroded by monsoon floods.

The people of these areas were busy by self-help to protect their homes, agriculture land and other infra-structure from hazards of more expected floods, but they cannot afford to resolve this issue on a perma-nent basis. In order to resolve the issue of the people and protect the existing infrastructure of govern-ment and villages, total 1600 feet gabion protection wall at various reaches has been proposed to protect the above-mentioned villages and infrastructure.
