LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 137 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises during operations in various housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas on Tuesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in Gulberg, 70 in Johar Town, 16 in Shadman, Shah Jamal and on Canal Bank Road, and 31 in Allama Iqbal Town and on Wahdat Road for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Superior University campus, Dar-e-Arqam Schools, The Knowledge School, English Grammar School, Pakistan Flourmills Association office, Javaid Pharmacy, Asif Frozen Food, Bake & Bite, Shifa Hospital, grocery stores, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, supervised the operations which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in all housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
