MUMBAI – Bollywood veteran actor Suniel Shetty has responded to the criticism faced by his son-in-law, KL Rahul, following India’s loss to Australia in the World Cup final.
In a podcast conversation, Suniel Shetty expressed the challenges faced by KL Rahul when subjected to trolling. The senior actor revealed that despite Rahul earning the trust of people, selectors, and captains, he has been a target of trolling. Suniel Shetty empathized, stating that the criticism affects him more than it affects Rahul, and unwarranted criticism causes him 100 times more distress.
Suniel Shetty disclosed that watching KL Rahul play on the field makes him anxious, as he considers Rahul his son and always wishes well for him.
He mentioned that before the Asia Cup, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty were targeted on social media, leading to distress. However, despite the criticism, Rahul responded, saying, “Let it be, my performance on the field will be my response.”
Suniel Shetty shared that observing KL Rahul, he has started expressing solidarity and praising every cricketer.
It’s worth noting that after India’s loss to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final, KL Rahul faced online criticism for not fielding well on the day of the final match. Besides, he received criticism for his middle-order performance, where he scored 66 runs off 107 balls against the Australian team.
