LAHORE – Renowned Pakistani Sufi singer Abida Parveen’s Instagram account has been blocked in India following recent political tensions between the two countries.
The Indian fans attempting to access the celebrated artist’s profile on the platform are met with a notice stating: “This account is not available in your country due to a legal request,”.
Despite the restriction, access remains possible through the use of virtual private networks (VPNs).
The move comes in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam attack in India, which has led to a surge in digital censorship and restrictions targeting Pakistani figures.
Abida Parveen joins a growing list of Pakistani celebrities whose social media presence has been curtailed in India as part of what analysts describe as tightening cross-border media controls.
