Students not satisfied with govt’s steps for evacuation: PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has voiced concerns over the safety of Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan, urging the government to expedite their evacuation amidst a deteriorating public order situation.

In a statement on X, Khan highlighted the plight of over 100 students from institutions such as the International Medical University, Asian Medical Institute, and Adam University. Students, including Adel, Talha, KomalGilani, Abdul Hai, Amir Afzal, and Shahzeb, conveyed their distress and the challenges they face during a Zoom meeting with Khan.

Khan emphasized the urgent need for government intervention, stating that the students are dissatisfied with the current protection measures. He appealed for immediate action to ensure the safety and swift evacuation of these students.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan assured that the situation is under control and legal action will be taken against the attackers. Following directives from Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistani Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan HasanZaigham met with the Deputy Foreign Minister to discuss the concerns of Pakistani students and their families.

The Deputy Foreign Minister reported that the local police are providing full security to all hostels and that the situation in Bishkek has normalized. —INP
