IN the light of the recent terrorist attacks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rightly highlighted the urgent need to bolster the capacity of law enforcement agencies.
During a meeting on the country’s law and order situation, the Prime Minister directed that all available resources be utilized to ensure the safety of citizens and the protection of their property.
While equipment and resources are critical, the Prime Minister’s emphasis on equipping law enforcement personnel with advanced training is equally, if not more, important. In today’s world, threats are evolving rapidly. Terrorist tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated and criminals exploit technology and new methods to challenge conventional policing. Without proper skills, updated strategies and continuous training, even the most well-equipped forces can find themselves unprepared. By providing modern, comprehensive training, officers will be better positioned to anticipate, prevent and respond to security threats efficiently, decisively and with confidence. The responsibility does not end with policy directives alone. It is vital that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with the respective Chief Ministers, personally review and monitor the steps taken to enhance law enforcement capabilities. Regular oversight ensures that initiatives are not only implemented but also continuously refined to meet evolving security challenges. Such active involvement from the highest levels of government demonstrates a serious commitment to protecting the people and restoring public confidence in state institutions. Equally, we must not forget the sacrifices made daily by the brave men and women on the frontlines of the war against terrorism. Their courage, resilience and unwavering dedication have safeguarded countless lives, yet the ongoing threat underscores a pressing need to strengthen their operational capacity further. While it is important to ensure recruitments in the security agencies are made on merit, investing in their training, advanced equipment and strategic preparedness is not just a policy imperative; it is a moral obligation to ensure that their efforts translate into tangible, lasting results in the fight against terrorism. The fact of the matter is that enhancing the capacity of our law enforcement agencies is no longer optional it is essential for the security of our people. A robust, well-trained and well-equipped law enforcement agencies is the cornerstone of a safe and secure Pakistan, capable of confronting threats and safeguarding the people from all forms of violence.
