Steps underway to promote quality cotton seed: PCCC

Ministry of National Food Security and Research was taking various steps to revive and promote cotton by ensuring provision of quality cotton seeds to farmers across the country.

President Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) Dr Muhammad Ali Talpur in a statement said farmers would be provided the best cotton seeds through public-private partnership in the coming year.

He stated that the seeds prepared by all research institutes of PCCC would be given to farmer with the assistance of renowned seeds companies.

PCCC would ensure multiplication of quality seeds at large scale in the country and it would surely benefit agriculture sector as well as would improve financial condition of farmers, he said.

Director Research Dr Tasawar Hussain has been given special task to keep in contact with all research institutes working under PCCC in the country and ensured availability of the quality seeds, said Dr Talpur.

He also remarked that the Ministry of Food Security and Research was also playing role for obtaining Chinese seeds technology under CPEC.—APP
